one thing I found out is that if you pop a wheelie right when the pow box is about to hit you do not slow down.

decided to add a unlock guide I found/improved

Dry Bowser (my favorite) 1 star all 150cc wii cups
Baby bowser 1 star all 100cc retro cups
Funky kong unlock 4 expert staff ghosts
diddy kong win 50cc lightning cup
dry bones win 100cc leaf cup
Mii (outfit B) unlock all 32 expert staff ghosts
King Boo Win 50cc Star Cup
Baby Daisy 1 Star in all 50cc Wii-Cups
Mii (Outfit A) Win 100cc Special Cup
Daisy Win 150cc Special Cup
Rosalina Have a Super Mario Galaxy savefile and she will be unlocked after some GPs or get 1 star in all Mirror Mode Retro-Cups
Baby Luigi Unlock 8 Expert Staff Ghost Data in Time Trials
Toadette Play Time Trials on all 32 different courses or win 1000 Wi-Fi matches.

Bikes

Bubble Bike (small): Win the Mirror Leaf Cup.
Dolphin Dasher (medium): Win the Mirror Star Cup.
Kamek (small): Defeat all the Nintendo ghosts in the Star Cup.
Magikruiser (small): Play on eight different courses in Time Trials mode.
Nitrocycle (medium): Get a "One Star" rank or better in all 100cc Nitro Cups.
Phantom (large): Win the Mirror Special Cup.
Quacker (small): Win the 150cc Star Cup.
Rapide (medium): Win the 100cc Lightning Cup.
Torpedo (large): Unlock 12 Expert Staff Ghost Data in Time Trials mode.
Twinkle Star (large): Win the 100cc Star Cup.

Karts

Aero Glider (large): Get a "One Star" rank or better in all 150cc Retro Cups.
B Dasher Mk 2 (medium): Unlock 24 Expert Staff Ghosts.
Blue Falcon (small): Win the Mirror Lightning Cup.
Dragonetti (large): Win the 150cc Lightning Cup.
Glory (medium): Unlock 24 Expert Staff Ghost Data in Time Trials mode.
Piranha Prowler (large): Win the 50cc Special Cup.
Rally Romper (medium): Get a "One Star" rank or better in the 100cc Mushroom Cup.
Royal Racer (medium): Win the 150cc Leaf Cup.
Super Blooper (medium): Get a "One Star" rank or better in the 50cc Leaf Cup.
Tiny Titan (small): Get a "One Star" rank or better in all 50cc Retro Cups. Alternately, get 50 Wi-Fi wins.

just so you know nobody know the exact unlock time for the expert ghosts but people have unlocked them with these times so if you beat the unlock time you will unlock the expert ghost

the star cup is unlocked by beating the mushroom and flower cup and the special cup is unlocked by beating the star cup.
the leaf cup is unlocked by beating the shell and banana cup and the lightning cup is unlocked by beating the leaf cup
you can unlock 150cc mirror by beating all the avalible cups too

my favourite character is koopa trooper with nanonike (its closest to egg 1)

i take back my previous statement. power sliding now requires less skill, but constant power sliding takes just as much skill because of some changes, oike the angling. mario kart wii is great!
