What do Air Ionizers do? Apparently, I have an inbuilt one in my laptop and I have no idea what it does.
Can it repel instects/ants/anything else that is annoying?
Does it cool the air?
Is it like an air purifier?
What is it designed to do?

They wouldn't call it an Air Ionizer if it didn't ionize air.
