What this season of Haruhi was, was an attempt to see how they can milk the Haruhi franchise. Luckily they are making an OVA of the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya which hopefully will make up for the stupidity displayed this season, with the cute kawaiiness of Nagato Yuki. :3

The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya or The Vanishment of Haruhi Suzumiya is about her disappearance (obviously) and the efforts of the SOS brigade to retrieve her as she is the 'god' of that world and it seems like Kyon and Nagato are the main characters in this one.
BTW, you guys do know that it is said that season 2 is a re-animation of season 1, right??
EDIT : Forgot to say that it ain't out yet, only the novel is out.(The novel was released a long time ago though)

There is no such thing as a re-animation of season 1. This current season was done to fill in the gaps of material from the Light Novel that was missed in the animated series. This was done as a way of reintroducing the Haruhi franchise as well as milking a cash cow. Obviously they had better have learned their lesson about how pathetic and annoying the Endless Eight arc was. The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, features a world in which Nagato (Yay~) stole some of Haruhi's powers and made everyone normal, but left Kyon with memories of the past world should he find that he prefered the past one. This is Nagato's only selfish action as she wants to be with Kyon and live a normal life. There are several Light Novel's and Manga out in Japan that continue the story, needless to say the English Countries are far behind. Haruhi just came out in Europe last year or the year before if I recall. A great many people involved with the Haruhi anime appologized for the Endless Eight, minus those in charge who loved it and wanted to make an OVA version of it. Might I add, this is the first time I wanted to kill someone? Anyways, hopefully they will get moving with the series again and avoid stupid things like the Endless Eight. Oh yeah... Nagato Yuki, Ryoko Asakura, and Tsuruya are my favorites... The rest are just bleh. Haruhi's okay... Just not to my liking.

Actually there's another Light Novel coming out, the reason being that the author is trying to salvage Haruhi from the idiots who made the Endless Eight. It is true the Light Novel's came first, I was reading the Light Novel's in fact before it became fasionable before the anime came out. ^^;
The video is weird, the only re-animation that occured was the showing of the scenes filmed for the weird movie Haruhi wanted to make. I suppose the re-animation could be point in fact of the change in art style to that used in K-on!, but I suppose only the producers really know what they ment by that as there was no re-animating done as there was no scenes that existed prior to redo (except for showing the aformentioned filming sequences). x:

*sighs* Your not getting it... The Second Season is the filler of the material not used in the First Season. The Second Season is really just all the parts with in the Light Novel that weren't used in the First Season, this was done to make the First Season better and to be a total way of milking more money out of the series.
The Episodes that provide the info are as I said, the filming episodes used to show how the movie Haruhi made was produced. In fact I wouldn't qualify this as a Second Season, I would say this is Season 1.03. As only 3 episodes were really worth watching and all this season was, was as I had previously said... Filler using the materials not used from the light novel.
