well with a ROM you can demo a game, play from different saved states, and lots of other stuff u can't do with the actual game.

i am completely against use of r4's and any kind of emulator
its illegal and if we want our favorite game publishers to continue to belt out new and awesome games, our contributions in the market will speed up that process

I like vba but no$gba is ok I like emulators because if I want to play a jap game if its translated then I can just upload it to the ROM and then I can play it in English
